Congresswoman Lucille Roybal-Allard visited with students and faculty of the Civitas School of Leadership who were in our nation’s capital to advocate on behalf of small and personalized learning communities.  Housed on the Edward R. Roybal Learning Center in Downtown Los Angeles, it is among the campus’ small learning communities, each of which includes general studies, science, and specialized classrooms, as well as local administration.  The Civitas School of Leadership is dedicated to empowering and inspiring urban youth to become critical thinkers, creative problem solvers, and humane leaders.  It is also dedicated to instilling students with a strong sense of self and community with a commitment to nonviolence and social justice, environmental consciousness and democratic activism.
