Congresswoman Lucille Roybal-Allard (CA-34) met with three boy scouts with Troop 419 in her Downtown district office who are working to achieve the rank of Eagle Scout. They were accompanied by their Scoutmaster Michael McCormick, who is also a member of the Vernon City Council. The scouts met with Congresswoman Roybal-Allard during their tour of the federal buildings in Downtown Los Angeles to fulfill a requirement for the Citizenship in the Nation merit badge. To achieve the rank of Eagle Scout, the young men must, among other requirements, earn a total of twenty-one merit badges and be a Life Scout for at least six months.
