Congresswoman Lucille Roybal-Allard (CA-34) visited with more than 40 senior citizens at the Cudahy Senior Center Holiday Celebration held at Turner Hall in Clara Street Park.

During the congresswoman’s remarks, she provided seniors with an overview of her constituent casework services available through her Downtown district office at (213) 628-9230.  The congresswoman reminded constituents about important Medicare deadlines and the upcoming Digital Television Transition deadline, which is February 17, 2009.  After that date, she told the audience, broadcasters will air digital signals exclusively and televisions that rely on a rooftop antenna or “rabbit ears” will no longer work properly. For those televisions, she said viewers will need to obtain a converter box to continue using the set.  More information about the transition and converter box coupons is available at www.dtv.gov or by calling 1-888-DTV-2009.
