A lunchtime visit with seniors at the Chinatown Senior Citizens Center located in Cathay Manor Apartments.

During the congresswoman’s remarks, she provided the seniors with an overview of her constituent casework services available through her Downtown district office by calling (213) 628-9230.  The congresswoman also reminded constituents about important deadlines for the Medicare program and the upcoming Digital Television Transition.  Regarding the transition, she told the audience that after February 17, broadcasters will air digital signals exclusively and televisions that rely on a rooftop antenna or “rabbit ears” will no longer work properly. For those televisions, she said viewers will need to obtain a converter box to continue using the set.  More information about the transition and converter box coupons is available at www.dtv.gov or by calling 1-888-DTV-2009.

After speaking to the seniors, Congresswoman Roybal-Allard also answered questions about the need to create more affordable housing for seniors and senior job training programs.
