Congresswoman Lucille Roybal-Allard Visited with more than 100 Seniors at the Bell Gardens Senior CenterCongresswoman Lucille Roybal-Allard (CA-34) visited with more than 100 seniors at the annual Bell Gardens Senior Center holiday dinner held at Veterans Park. During the congresswoman’s remarks, she provided residents with an overview of her constituent casework services available through her Downtown district office by calling (213) 628-9230. The congresswoman reminded constituents about important Medicare deadlines and the upcoming Digital Television Transition deadline, which is February 17, 2009. After that date, she told the audience, broadcasters will air digital signals exclusively and televisions that rely on a rooftop antenna or “rabbit ears” will no longer work properly. For those televisions, she said viewers will need to obtain a converter box to continue using the set. More information about the transition and converter box coupons is available at www.dtv.gov or by calling 1-888-DTV-2009.
