Congresswoman Lucille Roybal-Allard (CA-34) visited with more than 70 senior citizens at the Boyle Heights Senior Citizen Center on East 3rd Street.

During the congresswoman’s remarks, she provided the seniors with an overview of her constituent casework services available by contacting her Downtown district office at (213) 628-9230.  She also discussed the upcoming Digital Television Transition deadline, which is February 17, 2009.  After that date, she told the audience, broadcasters will air digital signals exclusively and televisions that rely on a rooftop antenna or “rabbit ears” will no longer work properly. For those televisions, she said viewers will need to obtain a converter box to continue using the set.  More information about the transition and converter box coupons is available at www.dtv.gov or by calling 1-888-DTV-2009.
