Congresswoman Lucille Roybal-Allard (CA-34) updated members of the downtown business community about ongoing efforts to revitalize our nation’s economy as well as the Downtown area at the Central City Association's Executive Committee meeting. The meeting was held at The Colburn School, which is a performing arts and music school in Downtown Los Angeles.
Established in 1924 as an advocacy organization for businesses, the Central City Association represents more than 450 member businesses and organizations, many of which are located or have business interests in the downtown area. Among the topics included in her remarks, the congresswoman discussed congressional efforts to jumpstart the economy and save jobs as well as her successful efforts to secure federal funding for many important downtown initiatives, including refurbishing St. Vibiana's Cathedral, replacing and repairing sidewalks on Broadway, construction of a new federal courthouse, the Avenida Primera project, a Red Car trolley feasibility study and revitalization of the areas along the Los Angeles River.
