Congresswoman Lucille Roybal-Allard (CA-34) attended the Association of Black Women Physicians’ (ABWP) Annual Scholarship Benefit where she presented Dr. Geraldine Branch with a certificate of Congressional Recognition in honor of her lifetime of distinguished service. Dr. Branch was the second African-American female physician in Los Angeles and is a founding member of the ABWP.
The event generated resources to support ABWP’s scholarship program for African-American female medical students and honored physicians Dr. Geraldine Branch, Dr. Vivian Pinn (Lifetime Achievement Award) and Dr. Helena Kwakwa (Humanitarian Award) for their contributions to medicine.
The ABWP is a not-for-profit organization founded to promote health and wellness, educate and reduce, and treat diseases prevalent among African-Americans and other underserved populations in urban communities in Los Angeles and throughout southern California.
