Congresswoman Lucille Roybal-Allard (CA-34) tours the University of Southern California (USC) Division of Biokinesiology and Physical Therapy located in Boyle Heights on the school’s Health Sciences Campus. Cheryl Resnik, assistant professor of clinical physical therapy, briefed the congresswoman about the Fit Families program. The community outreach effort consists of a free six-week program for local children and their parents about fitness, good nutrition and disease prevention. The congresswoman said the program was a great idea for a nation struggling with an obesity epidemic. The congresswoman visited clinical training facilities at the Center for Health Professions, viewed a research demonstration in the Health Research Associates building, and met with James Gordon, associate dean and chair of the Division of Biokinesiology and Physical Therapy, a division of the USC School of Dentistry.
