Congresswoman Lucille Roybal-Allard (CA-34) thanked law enforcement officers and firefighters for their dedicated work to protect our neighborhoods at the Downtown Center Business Improvement District’s (DCBID) 8th Annual Public Safety Appreciation Barbeque at the Ernst & Young Plaza located at 7th and Figueroa streets. All law enforcement officers and firefighters in the Downtown area from all levels of government were treated to a free lunch courtesy of the DCBID, local restaurants and businesses. In addition, the DCBID donated funds to the Los Angeles Police Memorial Foundation. The congresswoman also highlighted key ways in which the new majority in Congress is supporting local law enforcement efforts by supporting the COPS hiring program and passing into law a new $400 million Homeland Security communications grant program for first responders.
