Congresswoman Lucille Roybal-Allard (CA-34) thanks 20-year-old Maria Serrano - a constituent who lives in Boyle Heights - for her assistance as an intern in her downtown district office. While completing her internship, Maria performed a wide variety of tasks, such as drafting letters, data entry, research and basic clerical duties. Maria also accompanied field staff to briefings and events throughout the district. Maria is a 2005 graduate of Roosevelt High School in Boyle Heights and went on to receive an Associate of Arts degree at Pasadena City College in 2007. Maria transferred to California State University, Los Angeles this Fall where she is studying Psychology and Communications. Following graduation, Maria hopes to make a difference by pursuing a career in education and public service. Maria is the daughter of Jesus Serrano and Refujia Serrano of Boyle Heights.
