Congresswoman Lucille Roybal-Allard (CA-34) met with more than two dozen Huntington Park residents at the home of longtime resident Betty Davis Gonzalez (pictured on left in the second photo above). Ms. Gonzalez is vice-chair of the city’s Parks and Recreation Commission and founder of Centro de Padres at Huntington Park High School, an organization dedicated to increasing parental involvement at the school and in their children’s education. During the informal gathering, the congresswoman discussed a variety of topics related to her work in Congress, including the need for comprehensive immigration reform with an emphasis on keeping families together and local citizenship workshops to help legal permanent residents complete and submit immigration documentation to become naturalized citizens.
