Congresswoman Lucille Roybal-Allard (CA-34) meets with Los Angeles County School Superintendent Darline Robles and members of the Board to discuss the county's federal legislative priorities. The Los Angeles County Office of Education is the largest regional education agency in the nation, serving nearly 1.7 million students in 80 kindergarten through 12 school districts. During the meeting, the educators advocated for full funding for the federal education initiatives under the No Child Left Behind Act, including Title 1 that provides grants to low-income school districts. They also support the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act, which authorizes funding for special education students, and the Carl D. Perkins Vocational and Technical Education Act, the largest federal funding source for vocational education.
