Congresswoman Lucille Roybal-Allard swears in the newly elected president of the Vernon Chamber of Commerce, John Maniatakis, who is executive vice-president of NI Industries in Vernon, a manufacturer of industrial and military defense products, at its annual installation luncheon at La Villa Basque restaurant. The congresswoman also swore in the Chamber’s 24 members of its board of directors and presented out-going chamber president, John Norton, owner of All American Manufacturing in Vernon, a congressional certificate of recognition for his service to the community. The Vernon Chamber of Commerce represents the city’s industrial community of 1,400 businesses which collectively employ 44,000 people who live predominantly within Vernon’s five-mile radius, including East Los Angeles, Huntington Park, Maywood, Cudahy and Boyle Heights in the 34th District. At the ceremony, the congresswoman also visited with three members of the Vernon City Council who attended the ceremony.
