Congresswoman Lucille Roybal-Allard congratulates Para Los Niños participants at the 13th Annual Treasures of Los Angeles awards program presented by the Central City Association of Los Angeles. The non-profit social service agency that assists more than two thousand children annually was among 10 award recipients at this year’s event held at the Westin Bonaventure Hotel & Suites in Downtown. The organization's main offices and original site are located within blocks of downtown Los Angeles. Additional programs and services are located in the underserved inner cities of Los Angeles, including Skid Row, Pico-Union and East Los Angeles. Established in 1924, Central City Association of Los Angeles is a business membership organization representing over 450 businesses, trade associations and non-profits employing more than 300,000 people in Los Angeles County. Other award recipients included: the Los Angeles Conservation Corps; Loyola Marymount University; and Astronaut Buzz Aldrin, who was the second man to walk on the moon.
