Congresswoman Lucille Roybal-Allard (CA-34) (shown at podium) swears-in the new board of directors of the Boyle Heights Chamber of Commerce at its installation dinner held at the Los Angeles Marriott Downtown on S. Figueroa Street. Attended by more than 350 community residents, civic and elected leaders, the congresswoman asked the members to recite the following pledge, "I do solemnly swear and affirm that as a Board of Director of the Boyle Heights Chamber of Commerce, I will work diligently to foster the economic growth and responsible development in the Boyle Heights Chamber of Commerce region. I will work to reshape Boyle Heights Chamber’s business climate. I will stand to preserve and protect the free enterprise system which is the essence of the American way of life…" Also in attendance at the ceremony, but not pictured: Councilman José Huizar (Council District 14); State Senator Gloria Romero (Senate District 24); and First Assistant Chief Jim McDonnell of LAPD.
