Congresswoman Lucille Roybal-Allard (CA–34) discussed current events with Downey students Brittney Dreher and Allison Rohrer (shown on right). Both Warren High School students asked questions about the congresswoman’s work in Congress as participants in the People-to-People Student Ambassadors Program. President Dwight Eisenhower established the People to People Ambassador Programs in 1956 as a way of bringing together ordinary people from different countries to help solve differences through greater cultural understanding. As representatives of their school and community, Brittney and Allison will travel to Australia this summer as student ambassadors to meet with their peers. Brittney and Allison were among more than 125 guests who joined the congresswoman from throughout the 34th Congressional District - which includes Downey - at a meet-and-greet gathering that she hosted at the Bell Community Center.
