For the second year in a row, Congresswoman Lucille Roybal-Allard hosted representatives from seven area health care clinics - all members of the Community Clinic Association of Los Angeles County -- at a roundtable discussion she organized at the Center for Healthy Communities at The California Endowment to discuss the health care issues of most concern to the clinics and their patients. A member of the Labor, Health and Human Services and Education Subcommittee of Appropriations, the congresswoman listened to area health clinic representatives who shared their insights about the impact of federal policies on health care issues facing the residents of the 34th Congressional District. Community clinics and health centers are independent not-for-profit providers of comprehensive primary health care services. The clinics serve the working poor, the uninsured, medically high-risk and vulnerable populations, regardless of a person’s ability to pay. Congresswoman Lucille Roybal-Allard, pictured center, is joined by roundtable participants from the following seven clinics and the Community Clinic Association of Los Angeles County: AltaMed Health Services, which operates centers in Bell, Boyle Heights, East Los Angeles/Commerce and Huntington Park; Chinatown Service Center, based in Chinatown; Clinica Oscar Romero, which operates two clinics in Pico-Union; Eisner Pediatric Family & Medical Center located in downtown; JWCH Institute which operates centers in downtown, East Los Angeles and Bell Gardens; Northeast Community Clinic, which operates centers in Huntington Park, Bell and downtown; and Planned Parenthood Los Angeles.
