Congresswoman Lucille Roybal-Allard (CA-34) meets with the Executive Director of Phoenix Houses of California, Winnie Wechsler, during a trip to our nation’s capital to garner support for adolescent substance abuse-treatment programs. Phoenix Academy of Los Angeles is located in Lake View Terrace in the San Fernando Valley and treats hundreds of at-risk youth from Los Angeles County each year. A longtime advocate of the organization and a member of the Appropriations Committee in Congress, Congresswoman Roybal-Allard secured $400,000 in federal funds in recent years from the U.S. Department of Justice to enable the organization to expand its rehabilitation services and to address the teen methamphetamine crisis in Los Angeles County.
