Congresswoman Lucille Roybal-Allard (CA-34) speaks with Photography Exhibit Producer Gil Botello as nationally acclaimed photojournalist George Rodriguez of Pico Rivera in Los Angeles County captures the moment on film. Eighty of Mr. Rodriguez’ photographs of farm worker activist César E. Chávez are on display this week at the Numark Gallery in the nation’s capital. During the meeting in Congresswoman Roybal-Allard’s Washington, D.C. office, she presented him with a certificate of recognition in honor of his “outstanding contribution to the arts and civil rights” through his “exemplary talent in photography.” Mr. Rodriguez’ seven city tour of the exhibit began in Los Angeles in 2006 and will end in Mexico City in 2008. The exhibit will also travel to Chicago, New York, San Antonio and Sacramento. Born and raised in South Central and Downtown Los Angeles, Mr. Rodriguez is a lifelong resident of Los Angeles who was introduced to photography by an instructor at Fremont High School.
