Congresswoman Lucille Roybal-Allard (CA-34) updated members of the downtown business community about ongoing efforts to revitalize downtown at the Central City Association's Executive Committee meeting at The California Endowment offices in downtown Los Angeles. Established in 1924 as an advocacy organization for businesses, the Central City Association represents more than 450 member businesses and organizations, many of which are located or have business interests in the downtown area. Among the topics included in her remarks, the congresswoman discussed her successful efforts to secure federal funding for many important downtown initiatives, including refurbishing St. Vibiana's Cathedral, replacing and repairing sidewalks on Broadway, construction of a new federal courthouse, the Avenida Primera project, a Red Car trolley feasibility study and revitalization of the areas along the Los Angeles River.
