Congresswoman Lucille Roybal-Allard (CA-34) thanked Enterprise Community Partners for honoring her with its "Champion of Affordable Housing and Community Development" Award at the 2006 Enterprise Network Conference at Renaissance Hotel in Los Angeles. Enterprise is one of the nation's largest non-profit community development organizations dedicated to the creation of affordable housing for low-income families. The organization provides low-cost financing and grants to help non-profits build and renovate affordable homes. Enterprise is currently partnering with the 1010 Development Corporation in the congresswoman's district to build two affordable housing apartment buildings at 1405 and 1322 James H. Wood Blvd near Union and Olympic in Pico Union. During the award presentation, Enterprise executives thanked the congresswoman and Congressman Xavier Becerra - who was also honored - for their successful advocacy to continue a program in Los Angeles that allows Enterprise to purchase foreclosed homes, rehabilitate them, and sell them to first-time homebuyers at affordable prices.
