Congresswoman Lucille Roybal-Allard (CA-34) joins community leaders for the Maywood Academy High School ribbon-cutting ceremony. The new school runs on a traditional 180 day calendar and serves about 1500 students in four small learning communities. Each learning community within the academy has a different area of concentration. They are: architecture and design; visual and performing arts; information technology; and TV, radio, and film production. The school was also honored by the Collaborative for High Performance Schools for being a "green school" for its use of energy-efficient power sources and providing healthy amenities for students.
