Congresswoman Lucille Roybal-Allard (CA-34) attended the ribbon-cutting ceremony for the Miguel Contreras Learning Complex located at 322 South Lucas Avenue in downtown in the congresswoman's district. The Miguel Contreras Learning Complex serves 1500 students in three small learning communities and one autonomous school with its own principal. The three learning communities serve 400 students each with concentrated studies in social justice, business and tourism, and academic leadership. The autonomous school serves 200 students with a concentration on global studies. During the ceremony, the congresswoman presented a U.S. flag, which was flown over the U.S. Capitol in honor of the school, to Los Angeles School for Global Studies Principal, Edward Colacion, and Miguel Contreras Learning Complex Principal, Heather Daines. Principal Colacion and Principal Daines presented a bouquet of flowers in appreciation of the Congresswoman's congratulatory remarks.
