Students and representatives from the California Institute of the Arts (CalArts) presented Congresswoman Lucille Roybal-Allard (CA-34) with an art piece prepared by the students in appreciation of her support for CalArts and its programs. During a meeting held at the congresswoman's downtown Los Angeles district office, students and staff thanked the congresswoman for her efforts in securing $200,000 in federal funds for the CalArts' Community Arts Partnership digital arts network, education and training program. The Community Arts Partnership is a collaborative program dedicated to providing college-level digital arts training and experience to disadvantaged youth, ages 10-18, from East Los Angeles, Boyle Heights, Downtown, and other areas throughout Los Angeles.
