Public Works Commission officially re-named the commission's meeting place as the Board of Public Works Edward R. Roybal Session Room

The Los Angeles City Council, Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa and members of the Public Works Commission officially re-named the commission's meeting place as the Board of Public Works Edward R. Roybal Session Room in honor of one of the most esteemed and well respected public figures in the city's history. The ceremony included the unveiling of a 5-foot tall bronzed bust and pedestal of the legendary Roybal who served on the Los Angeles City council from 1949 to 1962. The engraving on the bust reads: Edward R. Roybal; Los Angeles City Councilman 1949-1962; U.S. Congressman 1963-1993; A devoted public servant and a man of the people who believed in a government committed to helping the underrepresented, the dispossessed, and the forgotten; Dedicated July 5, 2006.
