Congresswoman Lucille Roybal-Allard (CA-34) thanked Shantal Voorwinden of Downey for her assistance in her Los Angeles District Office during her 9-week summer internship that ends August 14th. Shantal is currently attending Cerritos Community College where she is majoring in English and Communications. She is also president of the Speech and Debate Club and was awarded the Bronze Medal in the 2009 Southern California Lincoln Douglas Debate Championships. Shantal plans on completing her bachelor’s at California State University, Long Beach, and would like to one day enter public service. While working in the congresswoman's office, Shantal performed a wide variety of tasks including assisting in events coordination and conducting research on high-speed rail.
