Congresswoman Lucille Roybal-Allard (CA-34) joined other Members of Congress at a press conference outside the U.S. Capitol Building in opposition to Arizona's new anti-immigrant law. Congresswoman Roybal-Allard released the following statement: “Today, I join many of my colleagues in Congress in voicing opposition to SB1070, the new anti-immigrant law in Arizona that pits neighbor against neighbor, promotes racial profiling and imperils the civil rights of not just immigrants and Latinos but all Americans,” Congresswoman Lucille Roybal-Allard said. “This unconscionable statute is a call to action for all fair-minded people who believe in equal justice under the law and who understand that the solution to our immigration challenges does not lie in undermining the freedoms that draw people to this country in the first place. We need comprehensive reform that respects both our security and our heritage as a nation of immigrants.”
