Congresswoman Joins the Japanese American Community in Kicking off the 70th Annual Nisei Week Festival

Congresswoman Lucille Roybal-Allard (CA-34) joined the Japanese American community in Little Tokyo in kicking off the 70th Annual Nisei Week Festival, a celebration of Japanese and Japanese American culture and history.  Pictured in the top photo: Congresswoman Roybal-Allard congratulates newly-crowned 2010 Nisei Week Queen Lani Kume Nishiyama and members of her court, Christy Kimiko Sakamoto (on left) and Lauren Terumi Weber (on right).  Pictured in the center photo: Congresswoman Roybal-Allard congratulates Los Angeles Police Department Deputy Chief Terry Hara and Frances Hashimoto, owner of Mikawaya bakery, for their volunteer efforts to make Nisei Week a success.  Pictured in the bottom photo: Rep. Roybal Metro Gold Line Eastside Extension and its Little Tokyo Arts District station, as well as the Little Tokyo Service Center, a social service agency serving the Asian American and Pacific Islander communities.
