Congresswoman Lucille Roybal-Allard (CA-34) welcomed participants to the 2011 Asian American and Pacific Islander (AAPI) Summit. The two-day event featured speakers who addressed key issues impacting the AAPI community. Topics discussed at the summit included economic development, housing, civil rights and comprehensive immigration reform.
“It is a pleasure to join you for CAPAC’s AAPI Summit as we celebrate Asian American Pacific Islander Heritage Month. I have the privilege of representing the Los Angeles communities of Little Tokyo, parts of Chinatown and Filipinotown. More importantly, as is true for all Angelenos, especially those of us who were born and raised in the L.A. community of Boyle Heights, my entire life has been enriched by the vibrant diverse cultures of the Asian American and Pacific Islander community and the positive contributions each has made to the economic and social fabric of L.A. and our nation,” Congresswoman Roybal-Allard said.
