REP. ROYBAL-ALLARD REMINDS SENIORS THAT MEDICARE OPEN ENROLLMENT HAS STARTED AND WILL END ON DECEMBER 7
ENCOURAGES SENIORS TO REVIEW THEIR PLANS
Today Congresswoman Lucille Roybal-Allard (CA-34) announced that Medicare open enrollment began October 15 and runs through December 7. This year open enrollment started earlier and will last a full seven weeks to give beneficiaries enough time to review and make changes to their coverage. Open enrollment will last longer but end earlier than in previous years.
"I urge Medicare beneficiaries in my district to review their health and drug coverage during the extended open enrollment period for possible changes to their plans for 2012. Please take the time to review your current plan and ensure that it will meet your health care needs for the future."
By now, beneficiaries should have received their “2012 Medicare & You” handbook, as well as a notice from their current plan that described any changes from the 2011 to 2012 plans. The handbook can also be viewed here: http://www.medicare.gov/publications/pubs/pdf/10050.pdf
It is also available in Spanish here: http://www.medicare.gov/Publications/Pubs/pdf/10050-S.pdf
