Congresswoman Roybal-Allard toured a local small business, Gaviña & Sons Inc., which is a family owned gourmet coffee business located in Vernon, CA. During the tour, Congresswoman Roybal-Allard learned that Gaviña & Sons Inc. is working on turning their facility into a LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) certified building, by making enhancements to their building and continuously supporting their employees to be eco-conscious through recycling programs that reduces waste and their overall carbon footprint in our environment. In 2009, they produced more than 35 million pounds of roasted coffee. Currently, Gaviña & Sons Inc. employs nearly 300 people, many of whom are Congresswoman Roybal-Allard's constituents.

"Successful American small businesses like Gaviña & Sons have an important role to play in putting the American economy back on the path to prosperity. Democrats in Congress understand this and with such efforts as they Make it in America agenda are helping small businesses grow and create American jobs, "Said Rep. Roybal-Allard. I was pleased to have an opportunity to get to know a little more about Gaviña & Sons operation and their meet their wonderful employees."
