Congresswoman Roybal-Allard added her voice to the chorus of community leaders calling on the Joint Select Committee on Deficit Reduction to protect Medicare and Medicaid funds that keep community health centers operating. These vital institutions provide medical care for countless uninsured and underinsured Americans. Representatives Roybal-Allard and Judy Chu joined a petition drive organized by the Community Clinic Association of Los Angeles County in support of community health centers, and vowed to take their constituents’ message directly to Washington.
“The members of the Congressional Super Committee need to know that the decisions they make will have tremendous impacts on Americans all across this country, but especially for those in underprivileged communities,” said Congresswoman Roybal-Allard. “Community health centers save lives and strengthen communities. They should be the last place Congress looks for budget cuts, and today’s event is about making sure that message is heard.”
