Congresswoman Lucille Roybal-Allard (CA-40) released the following statement after participating in a meeting this afternoon with Acting U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) Director Thomas Homan and Members of Congress:

“I appreciate Acting Director Homan's description of how President Trump’s executive orders have affected ICE’s policies and its recent enforcement actions.  However, I was alarmed and deeply troubled by his explanation of how the president’s executive orders would impact the immigrant community.  In effect, every undocumented person in America is now vulnerable to arrest and removal as a result of the president’s orders.  These orders are creating fear and terror in our immigrant communities, and that is completely unacceptable.  I will continue working to ensure that ICE implements President Trump’s executive orders in a manner that focuses on violent criminals who pose a threat to society and not innocent immigrant families, and I will continue to provide careful oversight of ICE actions as Ranking Member of the House Homeland Security Appropriations Subcommittee.”
