Rep. Roybal-Allard Statement on Continuing Resolution
Congresswoman Lucille Roybal-Allard (CA-40) released the following statement about her vote for today’s Continuing Resolution:
“Today, I joined with my colleagues to pass a seven-day Continuing Resolution. I cast my vote to keep our federal government open, and to stand up for the veterans, seniors, federal workers, and millions of other Americans who rely on our federal government for promised benefits and salaries. However, I remain terribly frustrated that the Republican majority continues to fail the American people by not passing a budget for the full remainder of the fiscal year. This forces us to kick the can down the road again by passing a short-term funding extension.
“Of course, this Continuing Resolution is just a temporary fix. We must complete our work on a bipartisan Omnibus Appropriations Act that will fund our government so that we can defend our nation, keep our financial commitments to the American people, help students pay for college, honor our international agreements, and keep national parks and monuments open. However, I will strongly oppose any effort to undermine the Affordable Care Act, harm this country’s immigrant population, or disable important worker and environmental protections – and I’ll urge my colleagues to join me.”
