DEADLINE EXTENDED to February 13, 2019 for the 2019 Lucille Roybal-Allard Student Art Competition

Congresswoman Lucille Roybal-Allard (CA-40) has announced that the deadline for the 26th Annual Lucille Roybal-Allard Student Art Competition has been extended to Wednesday, February 13, 2019, at 5:00 PM PST.  The competition is open to all students in grades 9-12 who reside in the 40th Congressional District, which includes the cities of Bell, Bell Gardens, Commerce, Cudahy, Downey, Huntington Park, Maywood, Paramount, Vernon, and portions of Bellflower, East Los Angeles, Florence-Firestone, and South Los Angeles.
  
The winning entry will be on display in the U.S. Capitol for one year as part of the Artistic Discovery Congressional Art Competition for high school students.  The winning student will also be awarded a $1,000 scholarship, a gift certificate for art supplies, and travel arrangements for two to attend the opening of the national exhibit in Washington, DC.  Awards will also be presented to other top entries.  Winning entries will be announced later this year at the Citadel during an awards program held in conjunction with the closing ceremony for a local exhibit of the competition entries.
 
Artwork must be two-dimensional, no larger than 22 inches by 22 inches, and no smaller than 8 inches by 10 inches.  A submission must be an original concept.  It cannot be a reproduction, nor inspired by an existing photo, painting, graphic, advertisement or any work by another person, nor infringe upon the rights of a third party.  Art forms that can be used individually or in combination are paintings, drawings, prints, film or digital photography, and computer-generated art.
 
Entries, along with completed entry forms and statements of compliance and understanding, should be delivered by Wednesday, February 13, 2019, at 5:00 PM PST to:
