Today, House Homeland Security Appropriations Subcommittee Chairwoman Lucille Roybal-Allard (CA-40) announced the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) has awarded nearly $5 million in funding to California state government departments to support these departments’ efforts during the 2018 wildfire season. The grants include $3.7 million to the California Department of Transportation for debris removal related to wildfires and high winds, and $1.3 million to the California Department of Toxic Substances Control (DTSC) for hazardous waste removal related to wildfires. As chairwoman of the Homeland Security Appropriations Subcommittee, Chairwoman Roybal-Allard oversees FEMA funding.
“These new FEMA funds will help California mount a strong and effective response to the wildfires that our state faces each year,” said Chairwoman Roybal-Allard. “As Chairwoman of the House Homeland Security Appropriations Committee, I strongly support these new FEMA funds for California, and encourage FEMA to keep providing necessary support to our state and nation as we continue to confront emergencies.”
