Chairwoman Roybal-Allard Announces FEMA Grants to Los Angeles Area for Wildfire Response

Today, House Homeland Security Appropriations Subcommittee Chairwoman Lucille Roybal-Allard (CA-40) announced the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) has awarded $4.3 million in funding to the County and City of Los Angeles to support their response to the 2018 wildfire season.  The grants include $3 million to the City of Los Angeles for fire suppression efforts, and $1.3 million to L.A. County Sanitation District #2 for restoration of damages to gas system utilities as a result of wildfires.  As chairwoman of the Homeland Security Appropriations Subcommittee, Chairwoman Roybal-Allard oversees FEMA funding.
 
“I thank FEMA for providing these federal funds to support the Los Angeles area’s wildfire response efforts,” said Chairwoman Roybal-Allard.  “As Chairwoman of the House Homeland Security Appropriations Committee, I know how helpful these FEMA funds can be for our local governments, and I will continue working to ensure FEMA has the necessary resources to ensure our local governments have the ability to respond to take necessary fire suppression efforts, and to respond to the aftereffect of wildfires effectively and efficiently.”
