Rep. Roybal-Allard Applauds American Rescue Plan Grant Funding for CA-40 Health Centers
Washington, D.C. – Today, U.S. Representative Lucille Roybal-Allard (CA-40) applauded the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services’ (HHS) awarding of grants totaling $63,353,875 to seven Federally Qualified Health Centers (FQHCs) in California’s 40th Congressional District through the American Rescue Plan. The grants were awarded to AltaMed Health Services Corporation, JWCH Institute, Inc., Family Health Centers of Greater Los Angeles, Inc., Kedren Community Health Center, Inc., Via Care Community Health Center, Inc., South Central Family Health Center, and Universal Community Health Center. In an effort to protect her constituents and Americans nationwide from the health and economic effects of the COVID-19 pandemic, Rep. Roybal-Allard joined colleagues in voting for the American Rescue Plan Act, which passed in the House in late February. The final legislation was signed into law by President Joe Biden on March 11.
“I thank the Department of Health and Human Services for providing these grants to some of our local health centers, and I thank President Biden and my Democratic colleagues who supported the American Rescue Plan for making this funding available, ” said Rep. Roybal-Allard. “For over a year, our 40th District communities have battled the devastating effects of the coronavirus. Many of my constituents rely on our community health centers to provide reliable care for themselves and their loved ones. With this grant funding, our health centers will be able to bolster their services and help our communities tackle the effects of this deadly virus.
“Our fight against this pandemic demands robust federal support, and these grants are critical for keeping our communities safe. As Vice Chair of the Labor-HHS-Education Appropriations Subcommittee, I’ll keep doing all I can to ensure HHS has the funds needed to continue making necessary investments like these to preserve the safety, health, and well-being of our families through this crisis and beyond.”
